Description

Shade 9:20am. This format is more interesting with pattern on umbrella, diagonal of hands and handle, and strong diagonal of lip of umbrella which creates depth. There is also a triangle formed by eyes and arms.

Exif: F Number: 5.1, Exposure Bias Value: 0.00, ExposureTime: 10/500 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 800, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 21.70 mm, Model: DMC-ZS10

For the reasons you describe, I like the vertical format. This is a case where both formats look good.

It's best not to end diagonal lines exactly in a corner because that draws too much attention there and drains energy out.

She might be a bit crowded to the left. You could have included her whole arm and still kept the basic composition the same.
