David, this photo is both great and bad.
The lighting is wonderful.
The exposure is perfect.
The POV is great.
Excellent use of DOF.
It is so sharp that it looks as if it was taken on a tripod and you used a remote release.
The foreground flowers lead nicely into the scene.
Your processing is well done.

BUT!! What is the subject? It appears as if you have two of them and it doesn't work.

If it is the fence the building distracts from it. And if it is the building the fence hides too much of it.
Unfortunately you are unable to use the fence as a leading line toward the building. Make two photos.

The fence has a lot of nice character. Try taking a photo of it with only the trees as a background by going to either end and showing it the long way instead of straight on. You may have to get inside the fence so the building doesn't show. I only hope you do not have my luck with a gas station being at one end and a heap of unphotographic rubble at the other end.

The building also has a nice character and is set nicely in the left hand 1/3 of the photo. Hopefully there are some flowers on the other side of the fence to lead into the building or as a lovely foreground. I only hope that you have the right lens to be able to get this done because you were definitely on the right track for the composition of the building.

Try working this area. You do not even have to take a photo but only put the camera to your eye to see what it looks like. Take the photo then look around some more. I am sure you will find something that gets what you are trying to portray.

I like this photo-To me the fence or the house would -either one would not have been as interesting without the other-maybe if you could get the fence sharp and the house blurred-but I still like it as is #9600435

Great photographers are not great because of their technique; they are great because of their passion.
Congratulations for your achievement, August, 25, 2011. Merna

I am truly honored and humbled to have one of my photographs noticed by really outstanding photographers such as you, Lynn Powers and Neal Hatcher. I have so much to learn but the journey is just beginning for me. Lynn has been a real patient tutor and I am forever thankful and Neal...what a wonderful friend you've turned out to be!!
Merna, I may fall short on the technique side but the passion and "want to" are in place!! Be blessed, all of you..you inspire me #9635916
