Tiny Rose

Uploaded: July 16, 2011

Description

This bud was about an inch long. It was made with the 105Vr lens with a Nikon 5T close up filter attached. ISO 100, 2.5 sec @ f-16.0 with a -2/3 stop compensation. I put the stem into a drinking straw which was in a cup sitting on my trash can just inside the garage door and put a black mat board about a foot and a half behind the rose. I was just fiddling around to see what I could get.

The reason I made this image is I had everything set up to shoot a very small puffy seed ball, like a dandelion but only about a half inch wide. Just as I was about to trip the shutter, a gust of wind came into the garage and blew all the seeds off. I walked around the house and clipped this bud off of our knockout roses to not waste the light and the setup.
