Description

Animals - June 2011
Chrysaora fuscescens ~ common name- West Coast Sea Nettle or Jellyfish.
'Chrysaora' comes from Greek mythology and refers to the son of Poseidon/Medusa, meaning GOLDEN SWORD... it is a warning of the stinging ability of these jellyfish.

I found one fact I thought was interesting...
jellyfish usually swim against the current in their tanks, which is why they usually appear to be swimming downward.

Hi Christine;
Beautiful image. The firery oranges of the jelly fish set against the dark waters is dramatic and eye catching.
