Description

Before sunrise, Merced River, Yosemite, CA. I picked up my companion at the agreed upon time of 5:41am specifically to photograph predawn blue light. Yup, you read it correctly...5:41am. My companion, who happens to be a predawn blue light expert, suggested we go shoot near the river, where she promised that the predawn blue light will be good. So we drove to an area that has river access, and went to our own spots. There was still a few minutes to go before the blue light, so I waited a bit. Imagine this---fog hugging the ground, snow/ice on the banks and the river rocks, the sweet smell of clean crisp 25 degree mountain air, and complete silence except for the sound of the water...wow! All these combine for one amaaaazing feeling! In times like these, I fail to understand how people could sleep through such wondrous beauty. ..(continued in photo discussion)

All these combine for one amaaaazing feeling! In times like these, I fail to understand how people could sleep through such wondrous beauty. Times like these I often get tempted to keep my camera in the bag and just savor the moment. Just as I was getting lost deep in my thoughts, I heard a gleeful yell from my companion downstream: "Yeah! Absolutely! Woo-hoo!" And there right before my eyes is the promised blue light....boy, let me tell you, it was quite overwhelming, and before I knew it, I, too was "woohooing" as loud as I can.
