THE MAKING of 'Rockers':

My Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club mate Peter and I were in town for the festival and after downing some great coffee and raisin toast at the Crema Espresso Bar, the greatest coffeehouse in town, we headed off into the crowd for some candid capers.

I was sidetracked for a while by all the bright, shiny paint and chrome of the classic cars on display but eventually the beat of some really good rock 'n' roll drew me to the Town green, where I worked my way around the edge of the crowd who were boppin' to the music while a handful of couples were dancing away, rapt in the nostalgia of it all.

This couple really caught my eye - the man was tall and his hair was well greased, the woman as you see with her hair in rollers ready for the big rock party that night.

Making the shot was not as easy as it seemed as all the dancers were constantly moving passed me and loads of folk would walk right in front of me. A typical photographer's day really. but eventually there was a gap for long enough to make the shot with the coupe interacting for me beautifully. High speed multi-shot ensured I nailed a good one.

I thought the B&W was most suitable for the nostalgic mood.

Enjoy!

I agree - the b&w is perfect. I instantly thought of celebration shots from the end of WWII. A capture to treasure... #9473176
