Description

This immature Red Tailed Hawk fell from a nest in our back yard prematurely. My sons and I made an artifical nest out of a sawed-off milk crate, lashed it to a branch in a flowering crab tree near the nest tree (the nest he fell from is in an oak about 50 feet off the ground), and lined the crate with cedar boughs. After two days, the adults began bringing food to BOTH nests (one babe in each). A successful intervention.

He lets me get pretty close -
this one with me standing on a ladder using my Canon 50mm at close to the minimum focus distance - cropped in a bit from full frame.

Exif: F Number: 6.3, Exposure Bias Value: -0.33, ExposureTime: 1/100 seconds, Flash: did not fire, compulsory flash mode, ISO: 400, White balance: Auto white balance, FocalLength: 200.00 mm, Model: Canon EOS 50D
