Midtown Manhattan and the East River

Description

This is a High Dynamic Range panorama of a portion of midtown Manhattan. It is but a small portion of the entire panorama that measures 8 feet in width at full size. To say it was a thrill to have the opportunity to take such a picture would be gross understatement. It was my thrill of a lifetime. I grew up a mere 100 miles from the city but until recently never experienced its pulse.

Spectacular, Dick. Would love to see this hanging...it was commissioned, right? #9423180

Well Michelle, commissioned with stipulations I'd say. I have two six foot wide versions hanging in my entry. The limiting factors I had with size was (1) the availability of 8 ft. wide foamcore to mount the photo, (2) available wall space in my entry. New York has an 8 foot print. We rolled the dice on the weather there in the fall of 2010 and the skies were pretty much as you see them for my entire stay. Wasn't it a friend of Mark Twain who is credited with saying, "Everybody complains about the weather, but nobody does anything about it"? #9423629
