I like this one better from your two Harbor pictures ... the moon light goes better with the rest of the light. But I love this moon, it would be great to have just the moon with a refelction in the water - you can do this with the flood filter. Wonderful gallery! #308616

Doesn't the moon always look enormous near the horizon, and teensy later, higher in the sky? This way you can always have it as you want it... what a terrific combination, and a great shot of both subjects; well suited to eachother! #2296221

Thanks Christopher;

The moon does "appear" bigger at the horizon, but in actuality it really isn't..maybe a tad from atmospheric abberations.

The reason for this I have read is visual perception.
We have reference when it is on the horizon, high in the sky we lose any visual reference such as trees, bldgs etc...

I've read the same explanations for the "moon-rise illusion." And last night it came up huge, dead center over the road I live on, and I just about slammed on the brakes as I crested a hill and saw it looming ahead. Of course, my camera was not with me :(
What I meant to say in my prior post, was that as a composite image, you can control the size; naturally or unnaturally large or small... and this was a terrific pairing. #2297588
