Autumnal Wave
Uploaded: December 08, 2010
Ricketts Glen State Park, PA
A wave goodbye to the Fall. On Monday this park closed for the Winter. This year, however, I found a partner to climb around the ice with, and look forward to the experience. Visitors in Winter must register at the office, have a partner, 30' rope, crampons and ice axes ~and, in our case a camera and tripod.

You're braver than I'd be, Marty -- that park has some pretty rough terrain to put it mildly! Wonderful composition and color on this one with the mossy rock managing to peek through the beautiful leaves! #1333837Tammy M. Anderson December 08, 2010
Sounds like great fun for sure. Remember the long johns. LOL. Beautiful fall capture, Marty. #9087341Ron McEwan December 08, 2010
Terrific still life my friend, centering the moss covered rock is special, everything is done right here, bet we see it again. #9087342Jack Ryan December 08, 2010
Good eye to spot this one...nicely composed...love that spot of green among so much "brown." Be careful on those rocks. You don't want to break anything...especially your camera. Good luck...and well done. #9087347Carol L. Fowler December 08, 2010
Sounds like a lot of fun! I crawled around on a glacier in Alaska with all that stuff- what a blast! #9088083Ellen Hodges December 08, 2010

I do think that the registering at the office and having the right equipment is escential to having a safe and enjoyable time. I konow you will be getting some incredible pictures and I know all ready that they will be beauties to see.Val Feldman December 09, 2010
No hot coffee?? That's the only way I'd survive conditions like you describe...well, that and a couple sets of long johns, as Tammy mentioned! :) I love colorful autumn leaves and what a nice surprise to discover a little bit of life left before Old Man Winter blows it all brown and dry (but setting the stage for some wonderful compost in the making for next year!) Beautiful full frame of autumn's best and alas, last for this year! #9089021Jillian Danielson December 14, 2010
