Description

Foreground (model) shot in the studio with 4 Strobes, 2 with color gels. Background is a sunset shot from my archives. Background was removed from the model shot and the sunset added in behind. Makeup also was done in Photoshop to give the Maxum style look.

Paul,
Great shot!! Congrats!!! How did you take her out of the original backdrop? Every time I try, I can't get the hair right. Please let me know the proceedure you use to replace the background without losing the details. Thank You Very Much,

Thanks, Well ... As far as adding in the new backdrop, it takes more time than most care to spend. I use the background eraser tool set very low (10%) and do the majority of the space around the hair that way. Then between the rest of the hairs is done by hand with the standard eraser too. A very time-consuming and tedious process. I'd say I spent 3 hours on this one image changing from the white backdrop to my sunset image. Then you have to match the lighting in both layers so it doesn't appear too altered. #1882764

Great work! I feel your pain with cutting hair from the background. I also really like the lighting of the model....

One small criticism - if you look below her left ear, between the fur collar and her hair there is a patch of (sky?) which doesn't look right... I would like to see what this looks like coloured the same as the shadowed hair, to suggest hair behind her neck.

Thanks for the compliments. Yeah that part never looked right but her hair was that way, and I didnt want to add in hair and manipulate the actual image at all. Thats the troubles with using the fan, you dont get hair placement pefect all the time.
Thanks again for the critique. I Love this site and hearing from other great photographers.

Clone Brush and Healing tool are my main adjustments made as well as some color adjustements.
Thanks again,
