Pinocchio?

Uploaded: November 03, 2010 12:12:51

Description

I found this statue of a pinocchio-looking boy along the Graben, a pedestrian-only shopping street in center city Vienna. No one seemed to know it's history or why it was there.

Update! Thanks to Bojan, I have leaned that the title of this "public installation" is TAGEDIEB (meaning layabout or idler) and the artist is Cosima von Bonin, who is based in Cologne. It was installed to mark the inauguration of a new location dedicated to the presentation of public works in the city.

I apologize for my lack of comments. My computer crashed and then I was away at a convention. Things are back to normal now!

Ann- Sorry to hear about the pc. They sure can make our lives miserable when they do stuff like that.
The story behind the beautiful picture was interesting but I like your version better with the title. It looks exactly like that. And lets not forget to talk about those gorgeous buildings with the colors and fasinating details. Topped of with a gorgeous blue sky. What an awesome place this must be. Phenominal work my friend.
Have a wonderful day and enjoy. #9013483

Hello, Ann! So good to see you back! Very interesting capture... Pinocchio (sure looks like him - hard to mistake that nose for anyone else!) in the middle of a Vienna shopping center, cool enough but then add the spider attached to his nose and it becomes a really super cool find! Leave it to you, World Traveler! :) Glad to know you are up and running again - we missed you around here! #9014441
