Description

Oh the sweet memories of my childhood when my Mother would treat me to an ice cream. I still get that 'MmmmM!' feeling today.

This kiddie candid caper was made from my table at the Crèma Espresso Bar, the greatest coffee shop in the CBD of Port Macquarie, NSW, Australia on a slightly overcast spring afternoon.

Canon EOS 40D & Canon USM 100-300mm Lens: RAW, f/5.6 @ 1/200sec, 230sec, ISO 100, Hand held.

Enjoy!

THE MAKING OF 'Ecstasy':

After shooting the Half Ironman cycling leg my best Port Macquarie Panthers Camera Club friend and I went to the Crèma for coffee, lunch and a chat.
While we were having our caffeine fix this young boy and his Mum took a seat across from us in the shade of a tree and got stuck into their ice creams.
It must have been a big experience for the little chap as he never smiled through the whole proceedings. Instead he set about his task with serious intent, savouring his icy treat with the devotion it deserved.
Now how could I NOT wait for just the right moment to capture the essence of this wonderful scene?

Enjoy!

Dennis, thank you for sharing this one. My fondest memories are those I shared with my grandfather. He and I had a love of ice cream. Whenever I'd go stay with my grandparents, which was as often as possible, he'd find one reason or another for a drive to town. Which always included at stop for ice cream. This pair reminds me of us...we'd chat and chatter until cones were in hand; then the focus was on the delicious flavor of the day. This continued from childhood to adulthood and was something we shared until a few weeks before he passed (at 82) and is one of my most treasured memories.
Thank you, Dennis!!

By the way, Dennis.
If I had an emblem or a badge to give out to a winning image, this one would carry mine.
