Description

F5.6, 1/25s, ISO 400, handheld, no flash, 85mm of Canon EF-S 17-85/4-5.6 IS lens. Angkor Wat complex, Siem Reap, Cambodia, July 2005.
Two monks standing atthe entrance of the main temple complex. Contemplating buddhism and the travel economy? I tried to take shots of the monks as I liked the contrast of the monks with their colourful robes and the starkish looking stone temple. These 2 were standing off the side by themselves next to the very busy entrance to Angkor Wat temple.

Gavin,

This is a great image--very striking. Just for fun, try desaturating it to B&W and then just color the monks back. To do it, just open the layers palette and make an adjustment layer (click on the half circle at the bottom) and using Hue/Saturation completely desaturate the image. Then using a paint brush of a medium size, paint the areas you want to get color with "black." Wherever you paint black, the color will come back. It looks cool with the right subject.

Gavin--I did a quickie version of what I was talking about so you could see it (and to make sure my steps were correct!). You might try switching the layer blend mode to "color" too, sometimes that makes the colors look more real--I did it here.
