Motif #1
Uploaded: September 22, 2010 04:45:30
This red fishing shack on Bearskin Neck wharf in the harbor of Rockport, Massachusetts, has been painted and photographed so many times that it has become one of the most recognizable buildings in the world. It received its name from artist and art instructor Lester Hornsby whose reaction to another of his students using this iconic building as a subject was "What? Another Motif #1!"
While many photos of the building show it standing very much alone, I wanted to show it as just one more part of a busy harbor.

Oh, wow, thanks, Jack. You're right, I've seen it before, always with an apparent attempt to remove it from its surroundings. Not only did you come up with a unique perspective, but a very educational one, too. Your composition, as always, is flawless. #8925880Nancy L. Green September 23, 2010
