Let the Sun Shine In

Uploaded: August 16, 2010

Description

-----
A view from inside the conservatory at the home of Pierre S. DuPont, the man whose vision created the beautiful landscapes that would become Longwood Gardens.
-------
Together with his wife Alice he spent thirty years turning the house and the Gardens into a premier location to entertain their friends. The original house was built by the Peirce family in 1730 and was expanded four times. Mr du Pont added a house of equal size to the original and connected the two with this conservatory.
-------------
Every time I've visited, a very large, sleepy, contented looking tabby cat has been sleeping in this lavish sun room, under the same concrete bench.

Michelle- I can only imagine as I study the beauty of this picture, what this gorgeous place must be like. The story was fasinating and I loved that you included a picture of the tabby as it sleeps with his paw covering its face.
What a beautiful way to join the add on to the original house and I can see them spending much time there with their guest. that sun roof so beuatiful. Gorgeous colors and I really love the extra framing you did on the picture. So elegant.
Have a wonderful day my friend, enjoy. #8839672

Looks like cat heaven to me. People heaven too, for that matter. It sure would be pleasant to sit in there and contemplate. The way you've presented this image, of course, brings all that pleasure to us. I really like your choice, too, of the frame here. It adds an effective feeling of depth for me. And, I must say, about the frame itself, your use of the thin white line is so nice. Looks like a white core black mat board. #8854744
