Now that is an entry that I can see with no need to outline. Nicely done Peter! I do think his eyes are imploring us to help him out of the quicksand before his nose dips under.

Welcome home. We missed you. Unless this is a post from England. #1293213

Hi Guys. Good to have gone and good to be back- could I ask for anything better!
There are so many things around the house and yard that desperately need attending to that I am doubtful whether I shall be finding time to catch up with all the many images you have all been posting so please forgive me and I will do my best.
Just to give some sense of scale on the 'Giant" the eyes are about the size of dinner plates. It was created a few years ago from a pile of mud which was planted with various plants and mosses.
Below is a link to "The Lost gardens' which you folk might find interesting.

Yes Peter, the going is good, but so is coming home! I suspect we will see lots of new photos from you soon. This is a great shot. I imagine if you are too close you wouldn't even notice this #8795572

Aimee C. Eisaman July 30, 2010

What a great find....from this image I would imagine the scale to be much larger. I'd imagine the eyes to be about 3 ft in diameter. So glad you had a nice time and hope you get caught up on your house work soon! :~) #8795577

Peter, so good to see you again. Missed you but this really doesn't do you justice. You never leave your hair that unruly. :o) #8795700

Peter W. Marks July 30, 2010

Thanks friends, with a bit of luck I should have caught up in a week or so and should then be able to put in time on the club.
And you are right Dale, I never let my hair grow over a quarter inch- either of them. #8796473

Thanks Rita. Unfortunately Chris passed away before I was able to get back to the UK. And please don't feel embarassed, I appreciate your concern and I realise that being a part of more than one group I am not always sure what I have told to whom. I am just grateful that on Phellos we seem comfortable sharing personal stuff like this. Blessings to you Rita. #8797088

My heart and prayers go out to you and all of your family Peter...May you all feel the peace and comfort of our heavenly Father.
I remember this photo from the other group and love it still. No question here on where the face is. #8797348

Thank you so much Dale and Susan. Going back there and having a pint or two in The Galleon pub overlooking the estuary at Fowey, which was Chris' regular watering hole; and talking with the bar staff and some customers that knew him well did bring about a small bit of closure. He always sat in the same spot like Norm in Cheers and I very much needed to see that he was no longer there. But yes, there remains a lingering melancholy

You are correct Susan; I had an image of the "Giant" from previously when I was back there. #8797469

Aimee C. Eisaman August 01, 2010

I'm so sorry for you loss Peter! I am glad that you did get to visit that pub though...as I'm sure it was a bittersweet time of tears and good memories! #8798522

Peter I am sorry for your loss. I know how much it hurts to loose someone close. Time will heal some but the memories never fade. #8798738

Oh Peter, I am so sorry. How are you doing? #8799997

Peter W. Marks August 01, 2010

Thank you all for your very kind concerns. I'm OK, just have a lingering melancholia, not just for Chris' passing but for an uncertainty of whether many of my other relatives have accepted Christ into their lives.
Thanks again. Pete #8800019

Teresa H. Hunt August 02, 2010

This is a great character shot Peter. My husband would probably travel all the way to the UK just to see the giant face. :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your brother. #8802237

Debbie E. Payne August 02, 2010

Peter, I was so sorry to hear about your brother. Sometimes I don't get back to a thread I've visited but glad I came back to this one or I'd have never known about your loss. Glad you are back with us and thanks for sharing. I've always been told that sharing not only doubles our joys but it halves our sorrows as well. I'll be thinking about you. #8802585

Peter W. Marks August 03, 2010

Thank you Teresa and Debbie. For some reason I have never heard the 'doubling one's joy', part of the expression but it is so very true. Perhaps it is so common place to tell others of some joyous happening in our lives that we don't think about it. On the otherhand, we do tend to bottle up our sorrows and perhaps need to remind ourselves that there are others out there that will readily provide comfort at these times. #8803115
