Finalist
David and I were outside working earlier this week and he spotted a moth resting in a plant. I went inside for my camera, micro lens and tripod and took three shots. The moth's head was hidden by a leaf so I got a pair of scissors to try to carefully snip that leaf away but of course the minute I tried, it flew off.
We kept on working and just a minute later I spotted this small butterfly on a coreopsis flower. I measured the flower later -- one inch in diameter. The skipper stayed on one flower for a long time, turning slowly as if trying to show me her best side. Then she flew off and came back and landed on another flower and posed some more. What fun it was to have the tripod and macro lens at hand and ready to go!
