Beautiful Clarity here Tony and I love the toes sticking up and the heels pushing into the webbing. Color looks good and I like the BG.

I can not put my finger on it exactly but something about the angles is disturbing. Straight eye Dale may be able to elaborate or it may be just me.

What a wonderful piece of history...I can see what Mike means about the angle...it almost seems unnatural to see a newborn looking like he's swinging, but it's adorable.
He looks so wide awake and interested in what's going on in his new world with his head popped out of the sack like that instead of resting back against it - though it might look more natural if his head was resting back against the sack. Not sure about that one.
Bean...your work is pretty amazing and believe me if I EVER take up working with infants or have a grandchild, I'll be all in for your creations! So perfect for newborns! #8715973

I really like this Tony! I love that he is so alert and interested with what is going on. The feet are the icing on the cake.

The angles don't bother me, my only suggestion would be (if you have the room)to adjust the crop so that there is more space to the right, and not so much to the left. #8716086

Thanks phellos...I liked the angle and was curious to see what others thought about it...This is uncropped so I didn't have much room to straighten or add to the right as you suggested Jeff, although I could add some canvas and clone some space in on that side.

Going through all the shots from this pose I noticed that almost all of them are slanted this way and must've been from my positioning..gonna have to watch that next time...also noticed that his feet are more in focus than his face in all of them. Partly because I was shooting wide open at f1.8, but sometihng else to be careful of in the future. As far as his positioning, he just naturally fell forward in there but he seemed very content. I think Beans artwork masterfully simulated his position in utero!

He's a cute little guy, can I ask why he spent so much time in the hospital? My youngest spent the first 10 weeks of her life there, so I'm always curious. #8716226

Awww so sweet! I don't think the angle of the baby is the issue in the first one. I think it's the line of the baseboard that causes the problem. If that were straight I think it would be okay. I love the comp. in the second shot, but as you said the face was a bit out of focus. I shoot at very low F/stops alot and the secret is to use single point focus and make sure you are focusing on the eyes and don't move once you've locked focus. That is always my problem. I sway too much so once I press the shutter release halfway I try to hold my breath. I'm sure you will get so many beautiful images using Bean's hammock. I hope to get an infant shoot someday so I can buy her stuff...it's beautiful! :~) #8716245

Tony, I love this one. I agree with Aimee, I don't think it's the angle of the baby . . . it's the baseboard. I like that he's swinging. And he's so alert! And his toes are wet . . . was he eating them?

I like the second one as well. But his out of focus face is a problem. :) #8716976

I think all the problems have been address I do like the first post best well it seem like this has been the week for cloning....tony if mike can take a fence out you can take out a base board.... #8717072

Thands Aimee, Teresa, Jeff and Rita...he was in the hospital for failure to thrive. He didn't eat well or gain weight for a couple weeks but is doing much better now. I think Aimee's thoughts about moving after locking the focus is the problem here. Just recomposing a little after doing so while shooting with such a narrow dof probably threw his face out of focus.

I think he was actually drooling on his toes Teresa....I did some with his dad holding him naked and he peed all over his shirt! It was pretty funny, although I think dad would tend to disagree...

Not sure if I will be able to clone that baseboard and I won't be back home to give it a shot til probably Sunday morning.. #8717211

I do like the second post better. I don't know for me...the little guy just looked like a rock in a slingshot, getting reading to be launched as soon as the holder of the hammock picked up some speed! lol
I know just about everyone else likes it, but that was the first thought that popped into my mind with the angled version (and that's from me who likes angles and diagonals a lot :) #8717368

Love these, Beans creation is a fabulous addition to your collection of props. Love his little face on both of these, even with the second one a bit soft. There always seems to be so much wisdom in infants eyes. Then it goes away until we get real old.

Tony, I prefer the first image because of the clarity. I do think the baseboard is causing the issue with this first image. I'd be interested in seeing him dropped into a different background. Especially since I am so NOT GOOD at that kind of thing. Something soft and mottled. He is a real cutey either way you look at him. #8738334
