Lion cubs are born with spots. They disappear as they get older. This cub was born at the Bronx Zoo and was 3 months old when I took this photo, about a month ago. There are three cubs and the mom trains them while the dad watches over them. I hope to get back soon and see their progress.

Regarding the cubs, they do have spots. Thoughts are that lions may have had spots years ago and now only the babies have them.
