Description

Nikon 105mm AIS (manual focus) with extension tube @ F16 1/60 ISO 400 Hand held with flash pointed 45 degrees up towards subjects EV 0.0 Uncropped I shot this today while wandering around the Biltmore Estate Gardens in Asheville N.C. I was taking some macro shots of the bug on the left when I noticed the spider stalking it. Call me a geek but it was exciting. The way I shoot macro shots is to use manual focus and set the the lens to the closest focus distance possible. I focus the camera by moving in and out with the entire camera until the subject is in focus. A flash is essential as it helps me to use a small f-stop for depth of field but also allows the action to be frozen. The bug escaped moments later.
