Nikon 24-70mm @ 70mm F8 15seconds ISO 500 WB auto I shot this lightning picture last night with a tripod. I used shutter priority mode and a fifteen second shutter speed. It was pitch black out so it was difficult to see the camera settings and I inadvertently left the ISO at 500 (should have used 100). This resulted in a little bit of graininess in the final image which I corrected using the luminance tool in Lightroom 3. The image is cropped down to about a third of it's original width. The exposure value was set on camera at -2 to really illustrate how black the sky was. I also left quite a bit of sky in the final crop to show the ominous clouds. I really wish the fence wasn't in the way but there wasn't really anything I could do about it at the time. When you use shutter priority mode like this, the camera will capture whatever strikes happen. This photo contains two back to back strikes.
