Description: Wheels of Progress
Much of our country's early progress can be traced to the movement of people and cargo by wagon and train. The wheels that supported each wagon and train had to withstand enormous forces with lives riding on them.I have always loved trains for their sheer power, scale, and place in our collective memories and hearts. These images attempt to portray the size and scale, variability, and beauty of the wheels that made it all possible. From the B&O Museum - Baltimore, MD
