Extra Click: Knife-Edge Pass Description: Nikon 200-400mm at 300mm F20 1/800 ISO 100 This one was a real challenge because both aircraft were traveling about 500mph each. Pre-focusing was not an option because I wasn't sure where they would cross. I focused on the jet coming from the right with continuous autofocus and had my wife squeeze/pinch me when the jets were about to merge. The camera was set on continuous high (allows for many frames per second shooting) so I held down the shutter release while panning on the jet from the right hoping to catch them both in a frame. I cropped about 50% from the original image for framing. The Thunderbirds only do this pass twice per show and this was a lucky capture as I missed the first pass. Uploaded on 5/12/2010 2:18:44 PM
