Local Turkey Vulture, Oregon
Uploaded: April 25, 2010
The Turkey Vulture is common in the United States. Its keen sense of smell is vital for finding carrion. This one is a local and may have a nest nearby. These are migratory and go south every winter and come back in the spring.

The Turkey Vulture's head, like its namesake, is bald and red. Its plumage is primarily dark brown.Tiia Vissak April 25, 2010

Very interesting information -- after a day of sticking my head inside dead carcasses, I'm pretty sure I'd be looking pretty mean and ugly too! Neat capture, Denny! #8568419Tammy M. Anderson April 25, 2010
