Description

Vladimir Lenin was a Russian revolutionary and communist politician who led the October Revolution of 1917 and fought to establish control of Russia in the Russian Civil War. He worked to create a socialist economic system and his extensive theoretic and philosophical developments of Marxism produced Marxism–Leninism.
There were many monument of Lenin in the Soviet Union. With its dissolution in 1991 many of them were destroyed. This happened even earlier in the European post-Communist states and in the Baltic states. However, there are still places where you can find statues of Lenin and some new even have been erected.
I was very surprised when I found this old one near the museum in Narva, Estonia.

I love the picture despite of the subject ;) It's amazing that they still keep him there, especially in Estonia. Was it something like "museum of communism" there? #8559418

Yes,I was surprising seeing this statue in Estonia. It wasnt really exposed like a part of a museum display or anything. It was rather in the corner next to the museum and museum itself doesnt have anything to do with communism. #8559481

Thanks, Renata. I just thought people in former Soviet Union had too much fun putting these statues down to miss this one ;) I came across some of them in Kozlowka last summer, but I still can't see them as neutral or just objects of (questionable) aesthetics. #8559621
