About Donald K. Cherry
After leaving the service in the early 80's, work and family obligations put my photography interests on the back burner. It wasn't until April 2004 that my interest was rekindled again. It was sparked by a trip to the Philippines to visit my wifes family and homeland. In preparation for this trip I thought it would be nice to have a small digital camera to capture the memories of our vacation. I purchased a Sony DSC-P10 camera which took some very nice photographs.
Shortly after returning from the Philippines, I realized that I wanted to become more actively involved in the hobby of Photography. I realized that I was going to need a better camera if I was going to make the most of my ability and immediately began searching the market for right camera. I looked at the digital SLRs , but found them to be a little too pricey for my budget. finally, I decided upon the Fuji FinePix S7000 and couldn't be happer with my decision.
Well, I figured it was time for me to update this portion of my Bio. Several months after getting the S7000, I was fortunate, thanks to some hard work with lots of overtime by my wife, to purchase a Nikon D70 DSLR. The D70 has become my heart and soul and is rarely further than arms reach away from me! This camera has given me the confidence and ability to create images that I never dreamed possible before! Complimenting the D70 are the 18-70mm kit lens and a Nikor 70-300mm lens.
In December of 2006, I became the proud owner of a Nikon D200 DSLR and retired my D70 to back-up status. I've also added a 18-200mm VR Nikkor lens, a 50mm f/1.4mm Nikkor lens and a 28-300mm AF Di Tamron lens with macro.
I enjoy shooting just about anything, but my primary interest is people and scenery. Recently, I've also begun to develope some interest in Macro photography.
