In 1966 I returned after two years Peace Corps experience in Ethiopia with several boxes of slides that I thought were really quite good. I wangled an introduction to a National Geographic photographer with thoughts of being hired by that wonderful organization. He took one look at my images and asked if I had ever considered insurance as a career! In retrospect, I think that was a fair assessment. Nevertheless, I've been involved in some sort of photography ever since.

After retirement in 1998 my interest turned toward nature photography as a hobby. I now had an excuse to do some extensive travel to photograph polar bears in Svalbard, penguins in the Antarctic, birds in the Pantanal, bears in the Aleutians and puffins in Iceland. It's a tough life!
