I've enjoyed taking pictures for as long as I can remember. But since 2002, I've become very passionate about photography. I take hundreds of photos each month and enjoy the photo editing process almost as much as I do capturing the images. I keep my originals and then save copies of all the changes I make. It's amazing how just a few clicks can make a ho-hum photo look great!!
I enjoy photographing everything! But many of my images are of the beauty I see all around me, whether in my own yard or in far away places. I'm constantly learning from others, so my images have changed significantly in the past couple of years. Since I still have much to learn, I deeply appreciate helpful suggestions and constructive critiques. Words of praise/encouragement are always welcome, too!!
Because I realize that not everyone has space or finances for matted and framed images, I use my photos on smaller items, which are more "share-able": note cards, greeting cards, magnets, bag tags, Christmas cards, etc.
I'm thrilled that my work has won awards in exhibitions such as: SlowExposures 2005; Atlanta Celebrates Photography 2005 (exhibition held at Arts Clayton in Jonesboro); the Georgia National Fair (2005, 2006, and again in 2007 (when I won the Sweepstakes Award in the Advanced Division),2008, 2009); The Rock Ranch (2006); and the annual GNPA (Georgia Nature Photographers' Association)
Expo in 2011.
With or without sales and/or awards, I love photography and plan to keep on "shooting" as long as I have a camera.
Currently, I'm shooting with a Canon 7D, a Canon 430EX Speedlite, and a Tamron 18-270 mm lens. I own other lenses but love the convenience/ease of the "walkabout" lens. I also have some basic studio equipment that I'm learning how to use when I take portraits and still shots.
I am a charter member and past president of the West Central Georgia Shutterbugs, a very active, exciting camera club that was organized in 2006 and now has 60 plus members. I'm also enjoying being a member of GNPA (since 2010).
