About Pamela Bosch
I have loved photographs every since I can remember. Taking photographs began when I was in high school using my mother's camera. My passion for photography really skyrocketed after I met a friend who used a 35mm SLR and that was it. I earned a BFA in Photography and went on to earn an MA in the History of Photography. Unfortunately I fell into a default occupation after graduation - the business of health care and my photography sort of took a back seat (but never disappeared) for about 13 years. I retired my wet darkroom and mainly resorted to snapshots most of the time.
However, my passion for photography was rekindled with digital (particularly after I purchased a DSLR)as I was once again thrust into the photography world that I so dearly loved. Now my darkroom is my computer and I have returned to photography with loads of creative energy and am loving it.
My main interests are landscapes, abstractions, flowers and portraiture (especially children). The flexibility of digital is astounding; I can create the look of the non-silver photography I used to do with much less effort using Photoshop. Learning to make great prints has had its own set of challenges as did traditional darkroom printing.
My goals have changed since my fine art days; I'm less concerned about making "fine art" and more focused on creating beautifully expressive images. Although the technical aspects of basic photography mechanics and concepts are the same in digital as is in film - I find digital has a learning curve all its own and it has taken time to transition from film. So many more options and controls it boggles the mind. The challenge is thrilling and building on all the photographic knowledge and skill I already possessed has been very rewarding. Now the goal is to continue to build skill in all aspects of the process. There is never an end to learning.
I enjoy photography excursions with my husband Steve although he is less obsessed than me with the entire process. We love hiking in the mountains (live in the southwest) and deserts seeking stunning landscapes.
