My interest in photography started on my 18th birthday when I bought my first camera, a Petri eBn 35mm fixed lens rangefinder. I used it for years on black and white then Kodachrome slides (ASA 25). Later, I moved up to Nikon SLRs in the early 80’s, Kodak and Sony digitals in early 90’s, and now use the Nikon D200 and D700 Digital SLRs with a combination of lenses from 50mm thru 400mm and a Nikon Fieldscope EDIII for digiscoping. I have been actively involved in photography since 1960. Having retired from the Army in 2007, I spend a lot of time scouring the bushes and backroads with camera in hand.
I am a self-taught photographer familiar with many different subjects in all types of environments, lighting and weather conditions. I do most of my shooting in Bell, Coryell and surrounding counties of the Texas Hill Country at various landscapes and points of interest. I am partial to rustic, nostalgic scenes, rusty tractors, farm equipment, trucks and old ranch houses. I am especially fond of windmills and only pass them up when there is no place to park safely. In addition to flowers, plants, insects and other nature scenes, I also enjoy shooting weddings, portraits, portfolios, Quinceañeras, sporting events and other special occasions.

More of my images can be seen at Zenfolio and The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center wildflower image gallery where I contribute photos of native Texas wildflowers.
