The Landing
This was taken up in Ketchikan, Alaska at the Great American Lumberjack show. During the off competitive season, these lumberjacks show off their skills at this show.
Normally for the log roll, a fall means a dunking in the water. This caught a very unusual fall straight onto the log. This lumberjack's co-performers teased him for months over this fall.
When I entered another view of this picture, it won the Lumberjack photo contest and is now (along with several other pictures in this series) part of a 2010 calendar.
The Lumberjacks were so happy to capture this particular view, that they sent me a autographed copy of the calendar. I think they have an odd sense of humor.
The Lumberjack that experienced this fall made a great comeback to the audience. He got up, started to hobble off and in a high pitched woman's voice said he needs to go home. Unfortunately for him, he had to stay for the rest of the performance.
