Like the peacock, the iridescent blue on the backs of the wings of this beautiful butterfly is not caused by pigment but rather by microscopic scales which reflect light. I filled in the black around the leaves but the butterfly itself is untouched. I photographed this magnificent specimen at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
