Wilson's Tomb
f/6.3, 7 Seconds, ISO64, N.D. filter, tripod
Two months after I got my camera, I shot my "Light Lives Here" image. It made Finalist
but I've wanted to reshoot it after a year's learning; looking back on it now,
I think it is too bright & yellow, with some of the glorious stained glass color blown out.
So this is my reshoot 14 months later, inspired by that image but with significant changes; while shot in the same aisle
and in similar early morning light, I used a much lower POV (8" off the floor) capturing more of the
reflections in the polished marble. I used a ND filter this time, making it a 7-second exposure (vs. 1 second)
A darker overall result, but I like the color saturation much better.
This comp has no zoom (vs. 3x zoom before) giving greater length to the aisle, and it pulls Woodrow Wilson's tomb
(barely visible before) prominently into frame, at right.
