Smokey Cape Lighthouse.
It took from 1886 to 1891 to design and build this lighthouse. It was built for a total cost of £16.800, which included the keeper’s accommodation and the lens (which is still in use today) and a kerosene vapour lantern. Then in 1962 the light was converted to electric operation, and it is now an automatic system.
It is maintained by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.
