Lyell Dam.
About 15 minutes’ drive from Lithgow is the Lake Lyell dam and Recreation Park. There are camping facilities alongside the lake, and the water is used for cooling at the two local power stations. It is built on the Cox River system.
The Dam is a Fusegate construction, which controls the water flow downstream in times of extreme flooding. The dam was built in 1982 and was designed to hold 27,000 megalitres of water, in 1995 the dam was increases to hold 34,500 megalitres.
This shot was taken between rain showers at 6.25 A.M. on one of my sunrise photo shoots.
