Hugo
Hugo, a female grizzly, resides at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center near Girdwood, Alaska. She is from Hugo Mountain near Kotzebue, AK. Two men riding snow machines found her in November 2000 with hundreds of porcupine quills imbedded in her paws. She was severely dehydrated and malnourished and was unable to walk or eat & so was brought to the AWCC. She made a good recovery, but cannot survive on her own in the wild anymore, so she is a permanent resident. This was taken right after she had been lounging in a small pond.
