Grip and Grin
----
When people dress up for a ball, they are transformed in many ways. For example, those who may usually shy away from the camera become eager to be photographed.
----
So trying to catch people before they spot the camera is a true challenge, especially with a flash diffuser on board; eyes are "peeled" for the roaming photographer and as soon as the camera is detected, they move into a pose. This is the result: "Grip and Grin!" NOT the type of shot we were after at the Red Ball.
----
For this image, I masked the people and filled the busy background with black. Also the woman on the left was leaning to HER right in a way that looked unbalanced, so her head and neck were copied into a layer and subjected to "transform warp." The man had just been a model for a roaming sketch artist.
