Lombardi Time
In his day, Coach Vince Lombardi expected his players and coaches to be 15 minutes early to meetings and practices. Not “on time”, but 15 minutes early. If they were not 15 minutes early, he considered them to be “late”. Thus, it came to be known as “Lombardi time”.
A new scoreboard project at Lambeau Field last year included a giant new time clock on the exterior of the south scoreboard. Natuarally, it was set to “Lombardi time”. This image was recorded at 1:48 pm Non-Lombardi Time.
The image features not only the new clock, but the “old” (2003) 14-ft tall bronze statue of Vince Lombardi which is currently in a new (temporary) location while the Packers organization completes yet another improvement project at Lambeau. I have been thinking that the new, temporary location would afford a fresh perspective for the statues as this image bears out.
