American Robins have historically been the harbinger of Spring in North America. But the generally mild winters in the Philadelphia area have convinced the robins not to migrate South, but instead stay around over the entire year.

On Monday we had about ten inches of wet, heavy snow, and on an early morning walk yesterday, neighborhood snow-laden trees were also full of puffed-up little robins, trying to keep warm.
