The Welcome
This friendly chap welcomes folks to Bent's Old Fort, also known as Fort William, located near La Junta in southeastern Colorado. Two Bent brothers, William and Charles, along with Ceran St. Vrain, built the fort in 1833 to trade with Indians and trappers for buffalo robes. The fort was destroyed under mysterious circumstances in 1849, but it has been carefully and beautifully reconstructed and restored and is now a National Historic Site and a National Historic Landmark.
