Yesterday we had a day's worth of tree work performed here, in an effort to avoid serious damage from the winter storms ahead. It was very COLD, with wind chill making it feel like 15F. The winds were howling, especially up in the trees. Johnny was the foreman--leader of the team.

I loved watching these men at work. They were so well coordinated, with two climbing, and the others operating the crane, doing cleanup and standing by to help the climbers with their rigging. They also directed (by rope) the large limbs to a safe landing. Danger lurked, ever present, but the men looked out for one another.

I feel a lot safer now. The terrifying winds during Hurricane Sandy were enough, with limbs thudding down around us for the whole night. NOT AGAIN!
