Another in my series of Indy at night. This is a view of the State Capital Building from Monument Circle. Built in the Italian Renaissance style in 1888, it is made almost entirely of sleek Indiana limestone and Indiana oak. The building is designed in the shape of a cross. A large central rotunda with a glass domed ceiling connects the four wings. The structure is four stories high. It is the seat of Indiana politics, housing representatives from all three branches of Indiana government. The governor’s office, the Indiana General Assembly, the Court of Appeals, and the State Supreme Court all make their home in the Indiana State Capitol Building.
