Basking in the morning sun, a blue dasher dragonfly "recharges" his flight muscles for a busy day ahead - mostly comprised of a couple hundred laps around the pond at Zilker Botanical here in Austin. Dragonflies are voracious carnivores and I've read they can consume their weight in various small insects in about 30 minutes time ... sorta the way I wish my metabolism could handle a tray of freshly baked raspberry-filled donuts.. :)
Have a Happy Tuesday!
