The Mitchell House
This majestic three story home built by a skilled carpenter in 1919 was full of then unheard of luxuries. Plumbed for running water, wired for power (which did not arrive until the early 50′s) and even a dumb waiter, this house had it all.
Times got hard in the late 20′s and by 1929 the Mitchell family that built the home packed up and moved some four hours east to Indian Head Saskatchewan.
The view from inside the home is breathtaking. Built on a small hill, from the second and third story you can see the rolling countryside for miles around, but move to the main floor and the view is gone with only the yard in eyes reach.
By 1959 she was abandoned for good. Robbed and looted over the years all that remains is an empty shell. Plans for restoration are on hold because of a million dollar price tag.
