Manatee This gentle herbivore, a relative of the elephant, is Florida's state marine mammal. Manatees are threatened by accidents involving collision with watercraft motors and hulls and by the loss of their warm-water habitat. Since we are now, finally, moved in in Florida, I thought this would be appropriate to start off the month. Taken at the Tampa Zoo.
