Stone Lion in Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park
Keokea Maui Hawaii
This stone lion monument was erected to honour the heroism and hard work of thousands of Chinese who have played a major role in the history of the Hawaiian Islands.
Sun Yat-sen became a modernizer and rebel in China and in exile. Part of his exile was spent on Maui, where he helped organize the Chinese revolution that ended China's last dynasty and established the Republic of China in 1912.
He is referred to as the "father of modern China."
