Log Staircase
They look authentic enough but, don't let these staircases made of logs fool you. Many fences, handrails and stairs in public places throughout Okinawa, Japan have these realistic-looking logs, which are actually made of concrete. Termites would eat wooden stairs like this, in the jungle, within a matter of months. This photo was taken on Tsuken Island in the jungle leading to a castle ruins.
