The Birth of an Island
f6.3, 1/250, 17mm. A new island in the Great Barrier Reef. Islands are created there over time as coral breaks down and gathers in one spot from waves and currents. This island is only a few hundred years old, and roughly 50 meters long. The coral cay is completely under water about two months a year, and no plants have been able to take root yet.
