Noonmark Sunrise
Summit of Noonmark Mtn looking toward Giant Mtn. Keene Valley is upper left valley and Whiteface Mtn is a bit further left waaayyy off on the horizon. Lake Champlaign is just visible off in the distance to the right of Giant Mtn.
Noonmark is so named because, in summer, looking from the middle of town in Keene Valley (where the Noonmark diner just happens to serve tasty breakfast, lunch and diner all day long :O), the sun sits directly above the mountain at high noon, thus acting as the "noon marker" :D
It also just so happened to be around noon when Renata and I got back down from the summit to have some tasty breakfast at the Noonmark Diner... Coincidence?? I think not!! :D
